The Rory Gilmore reading challenge

September 10, 2013 by Nathan Bransford 55 Comments

Rory Gilmore from “The Gilmore Girls” was filmed reading no fewer than 339 books over the course of the show.

Now you can take the Rory Gilmore reading challenge to see how you stack up. How many of those 339 have you read?

Me: 88

    Well, this is fun.

52, although it might have been higher, there were several I couldn't remember if I'd read them or not. I think I've read Shakespeare, but did I read Macbeth? Or Hamlet? Or nothing – maybe I never read Shakespeare – can't remember.

Stepping back, it makes you wonder who created this list – you can see a heavy influence of movies, which I don't actually think would have influence Rory Gilmore.

I did notice there's a notable absence of Twilight and the Hunger Games. Must have been after the Gilmore Girl's time. 🙂

This also makes me wonder what Rory would have thought of e-books, and how many more books she would have read if she had them on her smart phone.

76 but I can't remember if I'd actually read Sophie's Choice or not so I didn't count that one.
