Thanks for all of the well wishes, I’ve been laid low by the flu and so responses to queries and things are going to be a little delayed.
In the meantime, every now and then I like to get a snapshot of what people are reading to get a sense of the pulse of the book world.
So. What are you reading at the moment?
lucy in the sky says
I saw that someone was reading Hillerman, A Thief of Time. Been reading his books as well (until being hijacked by the Chris Moore obsession!). Since I live in the Four Corners I know the locations and it makes the books more interesting.
I like the Odd Thomas books, too, although the last one kind of left you hanging…

finished HUNGER GAMES by Suzanne Collins last night after starting it yesterday morning (it's as good as everyone says!)
…now I'm scanning through these comments trying to get an idea of what to read next. (And also the "does audiobook=reading?" question is interesting! If it does, then JM Barrie's Peter Pan can be on my "currently reading" list… it's read by Jim Dale, woo!)
T.R. Editor says
Hawaii, by James Michener. And short stories by Fitzgerald. They're just SO GOOD with words, I'd read 'em even if the stories weren't amazing (which they are).

Currently reading Going After Cacciato by Tim O' Brien.

I'm reading Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. Probably a great romance for teenagers, but I expected a vapire story to have a little more bite (even a romance).
Next up are The Last Oracle by James Rollins and the very large Toll the Hounds by Steven Erikson. I just finished The Road by Cormac McCarthy.

Just finished Handle With Care by Jodi Picoult

"The Whistling Season," by Ivan Doig
This is my first Ivan Doig, I am off to the library to check out as many others as I can get.
Also just finished a couple of novels by Louis Auchincloss, not my cup of tea.
I realized I'm not fond of paragraphs in which every sentence is a question. "She wondered, could she do this? And would it matter? What would people say? How will it all work out?" that kind of writing.
Macie says
Glad to see I'm not the only one in the midst of several novels!
The Big Overeasy by Jasper Fforde

Reading a few books at this point. For nonfiction I'm reading The Little Capoeira Book by Nestor Capoeira, Dracula Was A Woman by Raymond T. McNally, and The Tao of Equus by Linda Kohanov. All of these books so far are incredible
The fiction I'm reading right now are Urban Shaman (The Walker Papers Book 1) by C.E. Murphy, and The Crow: Shattered Lives and Broken Dreams (an anthology edited by James O'Barr that I'm re-reading).
Huh. Looking back over that I have to wonder if maybe I spend too much time with my nose buried in pages 🙂

Sorry to hear your sick, Nathan! Get well soon. I'm currently reading Midnight Never Come with Seraph of Sorrows, Timothy and the Dragon's Gate, Dragon in Chains and The Shack all waiting in the wings.
