Yes, I am here, and yes, it is great to be back. Everything is pretty much as I left it, although no one consulted me about the brand spanking new N trains — I mean, don’t get me wrong, I absolutely would have said it was a great idea, but it might have been nice to at least have been ASKED if I thought it was a good idea so that at least I knew NYC was thinking about me, but I guess NYC has just moved on from our two year relationship, and that’s sort of hard. NYC, you’re supposed to PINE for me, not act like there are seven million other fish in the sea!!! Sigh.
But it’s so great to catch up with old friends and my amazing cross-country co-workers, and I’m just so happy to be here. Of course, the next car alarm that wakes me up in the middle of the night might be the one that sends me into a New York-style rage, but hey — that would be fun too.
So thanks to NYC for welcoming me back with open arms. You look good. No, I mean it, really, you look great. Oh, this old thing? Gee. Nice of you to notice. Sigh. It really is good to be back.

Once you really get to know New York City, there’s is nothing else to compare to it. Every other city pales in comparison.
They might have an opera, but NYC has the MET and the City Opera. They might have a separate venue that shows musicals and plays but NYC has Broadway. They might have a museum (or two) but NYC has a dozen. they might have a world-class Symphony, but that symphony has to play play Carnegie Hall to be known.
Then there’s the other parts of NYC we won’t mention 😉
Like rockettes, Leona Helmsley, and Rudy.

Nathan – Now you’re in my neck of the woods, although, I’m more up by the earlobes and you’re down near the clavicle. Of course, these days, many NYC types are finding their way up to my part of the neck – Columbia County – and buying their getting-away-from-it- all homes in our bucolic fields. Sigh. But enjoy! Autumn in New York ~ It’s time to love it again.

Nathan, hope you are having a blast in NYC – and hope you aren’t a Mets fan. Yeesh.
Any thoughts on this, anyone?

I’m glad you are enjoying my adopted city! I heart NY too. Except, of course, when it’s still snowing in April and my California friends are all gloating.

New York, New York, it’s a wonderful town!
The Bronx is up and the Battery’s down!
The people ride in a hole in the ground.
New York, New York is a wonderful town!
Bring on Gene Kelly!
Have a nice stay “On The Town,” Nathan.

Reminds me of the movie Mary Poppins when Bertie rattles off a litany of women in his attempt to compliment Mary Poppins.
“Chicago is lovely and Boston is nice, Minneapolis rocks if you ignore the ice, LA is ritzy and Vegas is fast, Miami will thrill you but will the fun last, Charlotte and Dallas say welcome to y’all, in Atlanta you can be the belle of the ball, that Rock hall in Cleveland sits right on a lake but please call it Erie and not a mistake, St. Louis’s arch will welcome you west, but NEW YORK my dear friends, well New York is the best.”
Yeah, my kids are in the Mary Poppins zone. I heart NY too. And am now just 65 miles from mid-town so I can hop on Metro North anytime. Enjoy the trip Nathan.

I live in NYC, so don’t think I don’t know its charms. I do. However, I gotta disagree with Dave F’s comment, “Once you really get to know New York City, there’s is nothing else to compare to it. Every other city pales in comparison.”
Howzabout Rome, Paris, London, etc.?
Unless of course you’re talking only about US cities. Then every other city truly does pale in comparison.
But NYC nicer than the Eternal City? Fuggedaboudit!

Nathan, I hope you enjoy your stay in the big apple. I have been there and it’s a nice town, but I think I will stick to the sticks. A private lake thats a half mile from any main roads. Peace and quiet and no car alarms going off in the middle of the night. I’ll leave that big city living to you city folk, I like to see the stars at night.
