Caption Contest: The Winner!

March 3, 2011 by Nathan Bransford 39 Comments

It was ’80s heaven on Tuesday as 340+ people tried to explain what was happening in a backyard with some very primitive Walkie Talkies. There were so many hilarious captions it was difficult to choose a winner.

So I started with the honorable mentions:

Munk!
“We represent the Walkie-Talk Guild…”

Tucker!
“The range of early walkie-talkies was somewhat limited.”

LizzieFriend!
“The ’80s: It was the best of times, it was the worst of fashion crimes.”

Tana Adams!
“The backseat boys.”

M.R.!
“But Mom, we just saved the planet.”

But in the end, there could be only one winner….

CONGRATULATIONS to Curt!!

Our demands are simple. No more asparagus, bed time gets moved back to 9pm, and little Johnny here needs some gold chains for his track suit. You have 30 minutes or I push this button, and boom goes the dynamite.

Bonus points for thinking Little Nathan (that’s me in the blue track suit) needed some gold chains to complete his incredible ensemble (and his Wii remote FROM THE FUTURE).

Thanks so much to everyone for entering, and Curt, please contact me for your prize!!

Gotta give it up for Curt–"little Johnny here needs some gold chains for his track suit" sealed it for me.

And way to rock the Sue Sylvester, Nathan.

Congrats, Curt! Loved yours–that outfit really is screaming for some gold chains. And maybe a gut, a hairy chest and a receding (but heavily gelled, of course) hairline.

Congrats to Curt and the Honorable mentions!

I see Curt has experience in negotiations. Ask for as much as you can get and see what falls out. . .

BTW – wondered if there was any conscensus on the Wednesday question?(about discussing your story idea?)

Not bad! I think I'd have gone simpler with something like, "No more asparagus or the blondies get it!"

Lol – great choice! Nice work, Curt, very funny.

So many of the captions were laugh out loud funny, and there was one that was scary and gave me chills – by Nettie? – anyway, extremely impressive caption talent on this here blog.

Totally fun contest. And you know, Nathan, it's never too late for some gold chains.

Doubtless to be filed under too-little-too-late, here is my belated entry:

"Mom, the 80's just called and they want their track suit back. What, we're living in the 80's? Damn!"
