Actually it’s not a short Wednesday but still. I reserve the right to write this blog nonsensically. TOMATOES.
Anyway, just curious what people are reading at the moment. So you tell me — what book are you reading right now?
Me? When I’m not reading for work (rare these days) I’m reading DECEMBER 6TH by Martin Cruz Smith.
Zuni!
Infinity Plus, a speculative fiction anthology, and with Koontz’s The Good Guy waiting in the wings, along with The Man With the Golden Torc.
CADILLAC BEACH by Tim Dorsey.
If you like Carl Hiaasen’s stuff, you’ll like Dorsey’s.
In between surgical (i.e., heaving cutting) edits on the second draft of my own, Tess Gerritson’s Whistleblower for a package review/interview I’m doing with her.
It reads a bit like a B rated Film Noir yet has an appeal to it. She completely takes you into the foggy nights of San Francisco with bad guys lurking in every corner.
i am reading confessions of an ugly stepsister by maguire. his wicked book caught my eye, but i’m not a fan of oz, really. and this one looked good. and it truly is.
i wonder if he has a large male reading audience, as many of his books seem to be based on fairytales, etc.
and what’s it like to be an author who is mainly read by the opposite gender.
i’ve been avoiding crime and punishment on my shelf like the plague. haha!

I’m reading Blood Will Tell, by December Quinn and at night I am reading Harry Potter 7 to the husband and kids.
Just finished : Lummox, by Mike Magnuson. Hilarious and close to home.
Reading for me : Huck Finn, by Mark Twain. Because it’s that time of year.
Reading Aloud : Peter and the Shadow Thieves, by Dave Berry and Ridley Pearson. A great book if you’re under eleven.
Reading for Work: Foundations of IT Service Management, by Jan Von Bon
I’m reading Vikram Chandra’s massive end engrossing procedural detetective novel SACRED GAMES. It’s set in Bombay, India. At 900 pages it also encompasses a history of modern India,, a detailed portrait of Bombay and the intricately detailed lives of more than a dozen characters. Some of the chapters are narrataed by a dead gangster who tells his life story from the grave. Great stuff.

Finished Quantico, by Greg Bear, last night. Started The Dark River, by John Twelve Hawks: “the second book in the Fourth Realm trilogy.” There’s a mouthful. I heard Twelve Hawks pulled a million dollar advance. I need me some of that Twelve Hawks mojo.
I just finished reading again Sun Tzu's Art of War. I have finished the book a few years back but I suddenly had the urge to read it again and it still fascinates me. 🙂
